Special News: Solemn High Mass - St. Mary's Church in DC - Sunday, February 13th, 2011

I received this email and wanted to pass it on:

This Sunday is the last Sunday the Gloria will be sung until Easter. There will be a special music program at the monthly Solemn High Mass at 5 p.m. at Saint Mary’s Church at 5th and H streets, NW, in Washington, D.C.

The parish schola of men will sing the propers in Gregorian chant. A guest choir, Musikanten, will sing “Missa Pange lingua” by Josquin des Prez as the ordinary setting. Monsignor Charles Pope will be the celebrant, Deacon Richard Walker will serve as deacon and Deacon Leandro Espinoza will serve as subdeacon.
The reference to the Gloria refers to the fact that Sunday, February 20th, is Septuagesima Sunday and the Gloria will not be sung on that Sunday or on those following.
