Traditional Religious Order - Missionary Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi - Approved as a Private Association of the Faithful in Vienna, Ohio

The information below was printed in the latest monthly newsletter of the F.S.S.P. or was found in part on the website of the Missionary Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi.  Inquiries on vocations can be found on this site where there is a form that can be completed for information.

The Missionary Sisters of Saint Francis of Assisi were founded in the spirit of the apostolic letter, Motu Proprio Ecclesia Dei Adflicta of  Pope John Paul II, and the Summorum Pontificum of Pope Benedict XVI.

With a missionary spirit, and embracing the Church’s Magisterial teachings in total fidelity, we endeavor to assist in the renewal of Church and Society.

Striving to be collaborators and instruments in the battle for the realization of Christ's Kingdom, within ourselves and in others, we labor daily for a deeper understanding and love for our Lord and the Catholic Faith.

Mission:

The primary apostolate of the Association is teaching, in particular to assist homeschooling parents in the faith formation and academic education of their children.  The Staff St. Joseph the Protector Learning Center which is located at Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, the Fraternity apostalate in Vienna, Ohio.  The Center offers a blended learning environment with some classes taught on site while others are offered online.

Saint Joseph the Protector  Learning Center (SJLC) is a private, religious educational institution located at Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish in Vienna, Ohio.  SJLC  is a 4th through 12th grade virtual learning center in partnership with Queen of Heaven Academy. We educate our students in Traditional Catholic precepts by faithfully adhering to the Holy Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church and obedience to our Bishop and the Pope.

Saint Joseph the Protector Learning Center understands that we are at an urgent crossroad in Catholic education, and we are dedicated to implementing a specific response to this educational emergency by offering a form of Blended Learning. Blended Learning is when a student learns at a supervised brick-and-mortar location, such as a learning center, through online delivery which is supplemented on site. Blended Learning has the potential to revolutionize the way we educate our children in terms of quality and cost, as it allows for a fundamental redesign of the educational model.

In the year 2000, roughly 45,000 K-12 students took an online course; in 2009, more than 3 million participated in online courses. As school operators and educators are rethinking the structure and delivery of education, it has been projected that by 2019, 50 percent of all high school courses will be delivered online. This pattern of growth is characteristic of an innovation—an innovation that has the potential to transform the factory-like, monolithic structure that has dominated America's schools into a new model that is student-centric, highly personalized for each learner, and more productive.

As well as improving education by using technology to make readily available higher quality teachers and curriculum, Blended Learning also takes advantage of the entities that leading brick-and-mortar schools do well, such as creating a strong, supportive Catholic environment that promotes rigor, routine and high expectations for all students.

Our aim is to assist families in providing a high quality solid Catholic Education at affordable rates, so that our children can in turn, not only become lights, but  guiding lights for Christ in the world.
