LifeNews.com: Scientists, Govt Ignore Abortion-Breast Cancer Link Leading Surgeon Says

Steven Ertelt of LifeNew.com carries this story today . A leading breast cancer surgeon has published an article in a top medical journal accusing scientists and the federal government of ignoring the well-established link between abortion and breast cancer. Dr. Angela Lanfranchi, a New Jersey based breast cancer expert, says politics is corrupting science. She presents her evidence in a new article in the March 2008 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons. [...] She said both the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI) have "violated their mission statements" by refusing to acknowledge the abortion-breast cancer link. Lanfranchi says the NCI "changes its website information frequently -- it was revised more than 20 times in the first 7 months of 2007." That hardly

Sandro Magister has been posting in Chiesa.com the "running discussion" over the inclusion of "abstract art" in the new Italian Lectionary . I will allow you to click on either or both posts, to see examples and to decide for yourselves. I only report...you decide!

Here is some news for a beautiful Sunday... Father C. John McCloskey of the Prelature of Opus Dei has a remarkable background that began on Wall Street . His biography is quite astounding as indicated here . Stories on those souls who have converted to the Faith under his spiritual guidance are also numerous . Fr. John has what he calls a Catholic Lifetime Reading Plan that I printed out years ago. While some may quibble that "this should be added" or "that should be deleted," the plan is an excellent one. It contains some of the great works of Roman Catholic literature from famous novelists, saints, Popes and apologists. Here is a just a brief look : St. Catherine – Little Talks with God (modernized version of "The Dialogues") – Spiritual Classics Cervantes – Don Quixote – Literary Classics Chautard – Soul of Apostolate – Spiritual Reading Chesterton – Everlasting Man – Spiritual Classics Chesterton – Orthodoxy – Spiritual Classics Chesterton –

The Catholic Review Online: Pastor encourages attendance at Latin Mass (Novus Ordo)

The Catholic Review Online carries a story by Chaz Muth on the Latin Novus Ordo ( Ordinary Form ) Mass celebrated each Sunday at the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in downtown Baltimore: If more Catholics knew this particular service was not the old style of the Tridentine Mass but a new-style Mass said in both Latin and English, they might be more willing to give it a chance, said Father Jeffrey S. Dauses, the new rector of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As it stands now, fewer than 100 worshipers sit in the pews of the nation’s first Catholic Cathedral during the Latin Mass, and Father Dauses believes the congregation will grow if the faithful understand more about the service. “We have a participation booklet that outlines the service in both English and Latin so you can follow the liturgy,” he said. “The readings and homily are all in English, so the word of God is accessible.” The Latin Mass has

Catholic Online: SPECIAL REPORT: Catholic Archbishop Kidnapped by Armed Extremists in Iraq

Deacon Keith Fournier files a special report on Catholic Online . "We call on President Bush and the current American administration to do everything within their power to secure the release of Archbishop Rahho ." [...] Archbishop Faraj Rahho is deeply loved by the faithful. He is known to be a holy man, whose devotion to the Lord and his beloved Chaldean Catholic faith is matched only by his dedication to the faithful who are suffering increasing persecution in Iraq. Chaldean (also referred to as Assyrian) Catholics are the majority Christian representation in Iraq. Most estimate their numbers to be around 550,000 strong. They have also become the focus of a growing wave of anti-Christian violence in that war ravaged country, which is their homeland. These deeply devout Eastern Catholic Christians are also living in the United Sates and elsewhere throughout the world. Their largest communities in America are in Detroit, Detroit, Michigan and El Cajon, California. In fact, t

Steven Ertelt of LifeNews.com has posted an article on a Seattle-based company which seeks to provide vaccines that do not rely on tissues obtained from abortions : A biotech firm has announced it will offer ethical alternatives to some of the vaccines that currently rely on the use of fetal tissue from abortions. The Seattle-based AVM Biotechnology says it will produce ethical alternatives in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and vaccine development. The news gives hope to pro-life people who have been reluctant to use some vaccines because their development came as a result of the destruction of unborn children. “We will be working to bring commercially available, morally acceptable, vaccines to the US market and to use existing technology to produce new morally certified vaccines," says Dr. Theresa Deisher, the
