Ps. 97, 1. Cantáte Dómino cánticum novum, quia mirabília fecit. Per Dóminum.

Let us sing to the Lord: for he is gloriously magnified. The Lord is my strength and my praise, and he is become salvation to me. Ps. Sing ye to the Lord a new canticle: because he hath done wonderful things. Through Our Lord...

Timébunt me audiéntes reges horréndi: in multitúdine vidébor bonus, et in bello fortis.

I purposed therefore to take her to me to live with me: knowing that she will communicate to me of her good things, and will be a comfort in my cares and grief.  For her sake I shall have glory among the multitude, and honour with the ancients, though I be young: and I shall be found of a quick conceit in judgment, and shall be admired in the sight of the mighty, and the faces of princes shall wonder at me.  They shall wait for me when I hold my peace, and they shall look upon me when I speak, and if I talk much they shall lay their hands on their mouths. Moreover by the means of her I shall have immortality: and shall leave behind me an everlasting memory to them that come after me.  I shall set the people in order: and nations shall be subject to me.  Terrible kings hearing shall be afraid of me: among the multitude I shall be found good, and valiant in war.

Tempore paschali

Allelúia, allelúia.  Iudith 15, 11.

For you have acted manfully, and your heart has been strengthened: the hand of the Lord has strengthened you, and, therefore, you will be blessed for all eternity.  Allelúia. Now, therefore, pray for us, because you are a holy woman, and one fearing God. Allelúia.

Extra tempus paschali

Graduale
Iudic. 5, 8-11

The Lord chose new wars, and He himself overturned the gates of the enemies. Where the chariots were struck together, and the army of the enemies was choked in that place, let the justices of the Lord be described, and let His clemency be for the brave of Israel. Allelúia, allelúia. Praise the Lord our God, who has not abandoned those who hope in Him, and by me, his handmaid, He has fulfilled his mercy, which he promised to the house of Israel.  Allelúia.

In Missis votivis post Septuagesimam, omissis Allelúia et versu sequenti, dicitur

Tractus  Iudith 6, 15

Mt. 16, 24-27

In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Si quis vult post me veníre, ábneget semetípsum, et tollat crucem suam, et sequátur me.

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples: If anyone is willing to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whoever would save his life, will lose it. But whoever will have lost his life for my sake, shall find it.  For how does it benefit a man, if he gains the whole world, yet truly suffers damage to his soul?  Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man will arrive in the glory of his Father, with his Angels. And then he will repay each one according to his works.

Ant. ad Offertorium Iudith 15, 10

Benedixérunt eam omnes una voce, dicéntes: Tu glória Ierúsalem, tu lætítia Israël, tu honorificéntia pópuli nostri. (T. P. Alleluia.)

All the people blessed her with one accord, saying:  Thou art the glory of Jerusalem, thou art the joy of Israel, thou art the honor of our people.

Secreta

Hæc hóstia salutáris, Dómine, illam nobis in rebus árduis conferat fortitúdinem, cuius beáta Ioánna, sub tanta discríminum varietáte, tam insígnia præbuit exémpla: ut, ad inimícos repelléndos, étiam belli perícula subíre non dubitáverit. Per Dóminum nostrum Iesum Christum, Fílium tuum: Qui tecum vivit et regnat in unitáte.

That this salutary offering, Lord gives us in trials that fortitude which St. Joan gave such fine examples of in the midst of the greatest difficulties, she was not afraid to face the dangers of war to repel enemies.  Through Our Lord Jesus Christ...

Ant. ad Communionem
Ps. 22, 4

Si ambulávero in médio umbræ mortis, non timébo mala, quóniam tu mecum es, Dómine Iesu. (T. P. Alleluia.)

Even though I walk in the midst of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, O Lord Jesus.

Postcommunio

Fed with the bread from heaven, which has so often fed blessed Joan to victory: grant, we beseech Thee, Almighty God; that this blessed food makes us victorious over our enemies. Through our Lord.

  1. Thank you for posting this rare Mass! Your translations are mostly solid, but the Prayer is a little bit off:

O God, who didst wondrously raise up the Virgin Joan to defend the faith and her homeland: grant, we beseech Thee, by her intercession, that Thy Chuch, having overcome the deceits of (her) enemies, may enjoy perpetual peace. Through Our Lord...

And the Offertory isn't "we" -- that would be "benediximus;" the "omnes" in that case is more like "All the people blessed her with one accord, saying...."
