On his blog, " Holy Smoke ," Damian Thompson gives the " Holy Smoke Book of the Month" to "The Sisters who would be Queen" by Leanda de Lisle, Harper Press . His reason is simple: he can't put the book down! That is reason enough for me almost any day. Please check out his review. It sounds like a fascinating read!

WDTPRS >> Holy Smoke: Are traditional Catholics losing hope? - Fr. Z responds

This is a response to an article by Damian Thompson that has made its way around the blogosphere . It is an excellent report and a MUST read especially for those who desperately want a TLM and don't know where to turn next. Fr. Zuhlsdorf has posted good advice for many of us.

Telegraph.co.UK: The new English Mass is nearly here

Damian Thompson on his blog, "Holy Smoke," carried by the Telegraph.co.UK, has posted some of the new English changes in the Ordinary that have received the recognitio of the Vatican . He admits that the entire text is already on the USCCB website, but discloses some of the changes to his British readers. I particularly like his summation: Cheer up, guys: if you think the liturgical conservatives have spoiled the ordinary form of the Mass, don't forget that you now have the option of the extraordinary form, where problems of translation don't arise. Here is the entire article .

Telegraph.co.UK: An Anglican Inquisition

Damian Thompson has the exclusive story here . Among the developments: American and Canadian liberals are apoplectic, reckoning that the new body will serve as a Roman-style Holy Office with the authority to discipline them. African evangelicals, in contrast, are thrilled, because the new commission could well end up being dominated by conservatives who support the Gafcon agenda. Read the details here ...

Standing on My Head: Another Hint

Fr. Dwight Longenecker has been on top of this story from the start . In this post, he links to a fascinating story by Damian Thompson in the Telegraph.co.uk . The opening sentence of Mr. Thompson's story is the stunner: The Catholic Church will expand its provision of "Anglican Use" parishes in the United States in order to allow whole communities of traditionalist Anglicans into the Roman fold , a senior Catholic archbishop has announced. Please read both the blog post as well as Mr. Thompson's story in the Telegraph . If true, this has huge implications.

Nine Star Edition - Thursday, June 19th, 2008

WDTPRS >> Pope Benedict annoyed at studied prelatial indifference? Zuhlsdorf states) WDTPRS >> PREVIEW: A GREAT new publication from Angelus Press! Ten Star Edition: WDTPRS - UK: Card. Castrillon Hoyos - TLM in “Not many parishes – all parishes”!

Only time will tell, but we may mark this day as the coming of the Gregorian Rite . This is what Damian Thompson states that Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos of the PCED today called the "Usus Antiquior ." The news has been coming in all day, but Fr. Zuhlsdorf carries the latest comments on this story . The part he emphasized in his title is above: “ Not many parishes – all parishes ." He has an excellent commentary and gives a background to the story. The Creative Minority Report gives more "color" to how it happened . In a story called "The Moment - Damian Thompson Speaks," the background is described . It has been an astounding day: a Pontifical Mass at Westminster, the Cathedral packed to capacity, a press conference with Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos who assuredly speaks with the consent of His Holiness, and more information coming in to buttress the early reports. I find it incredible that as RORATE CAELI pointed out earlier, the Novus Ordo was
